In Jammu and Kashmir, in response to the concerns about cross-border firing, the administration in Jammu district has imposed an immediate ban on the sale and use of firecrackers within 5 kilometers of the International Border (IB) and Line of Control (LOC).

The Additional Deputy Commissioner, Jammu Harvinder Singh issued an order, stating that widespread use of fireworks is noticed, especially during the wedding season, near the international border. Such activities often create confusion of cross border firing among the security forces.

The decision aims to prevent any unrest in the local rural areas in anticipation of cross-border firing, with strict actions against violators. This restriction comes as Diwali approaches and with the recent exchange of fire with Pakistan on 17th and 26th of October.
