Goa Revolution Day History Part of Class 11 Textbook: CM Pramod Sawant
History of the Goa Revolution Day will be made part of Class 11th textbook from the next academic year. Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant made the announcement while speaking at the Goa Revolution Day programme in Azad Maidan, Panaji today.
Bal Bharati book of Class 4th already has a chapter on the Goa Revolution Day. Asserting that no injustice will be meted out to freedom fighters, the Chief Minister assured that pending pension-related issues will be addressed within two months.
He went on to add that 100-odd children of freedom fighters who are yet to be offered jobs will be incorporated into government service if they desire so by the 18th June next year.
Later, the Chief Minister along with Union Minister of State for Skill Development Rajeev Chandrasekhar inaugurated an Archives Week Exhibition featuring Unsung Heroes of Goa’s freedom struggle at Lohia Maidan in Margao.
It was on this square, Ram Manohar Lohia on June 18, 1946 had given a clarion call to Goans to fight for the liberation of Goa from the 450-year rule of the Portuguese. Goa liberated in 1961.
