Andhra Pradesh: IGZP conducts Mission Life events at Zoo Park in Visakhapatnam
Indira Gandhi Zoological Park, Visakhapatnam organising a series of awareness activities as a part of Mission LiFE (Lifestyle For Environment) initiated by Shri. Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India on May 5th, 2023, said Dr. Nandani Salaria, Curator, IGZP. These activities are aimed to create awareness among visitors about wildlife conservation and environmental sustainability.
All these activities will continue till June 5th 2023. Through these series of events and informative activities, IGZP aims to inspire visitors to adopt environmentally conscious lifestyles and contribute to protect our biodiversity.
Mission LiFE aims at following a three-pronged strategy for changing people’s collective approach towards sustainability. Visitors to Indira Gandhi Zoological Park can expect a range of Mission LiFE activities that combine entertainment with education.
These includes inter active sessions like Save Water, Save Energy, Awareness Programs about Single Use Plastic, E- Waste Management etc. by zoo education team. These initiatives aim to highlight the importance of sustainable practices, such as waste reduction, recycling, and responsible consumption.
The primary objectives of Mission LiFE are to inspire visitors to take individual and collective action towards a greener future. IGZP invites visitors of all ages to participate in these Mission LiFE activities and discover the wonders of our planet’s biodiversity. By engaging with this initiative, individuals can contribute to the global effort to protect our environment for future generations.
As part of Mission Life, till now in Indira Gandhi Zoological Park, Visakhapatnam, so far organized 91 different programs like Save Energy, Save Water, Plantation, Healthy Lifestyle, Seed Collection, Animal Keeper Talk, Awareness on different types of medicinal plants in Zoo Nursery, Awareness on consumption of Millets, Awareness on conservation of butterflies, awareness on eco friendly modes of transport, how to reduce global warming. Around 8323 visitors participated in these awareness programs.
