World Poha Day celebrated in Nagpur: Chef Vishnu Manohar Sets World Record by Preparing 3,000 Kg Tarri Poha

World Poha Day is being celebrated today, honouring the cultural significance, versatility, and popularity of poha, or flattened rice, one of India’s most loved breakfast dishes.

Nagpur marked World Poha Day with an extraordinary culinary spectacle as renowned celebrity chef Vishnu Manohar successfully prepared nearly 3,000 kilograms of the city’s iconic Tarri Poha in a single giant kadhai (wok).

The massive cooking operation kicked off at 2:30 AM at Manohar’s ‘Vishnuji Ki Rasoi’ in Bajaj Nagar and wrapped up by 6:00 AM. Aiming for a unique world record, the ambitious feat utilized monumental quantities of ingredients, including 600 kg of flattened rice (poha), 400 kg of desi chana (chickpeas), 500 kg of onions, and 300 kg of oil.

The entire 3,000 kg batch of freshly made Tarri Poha was distributed entirely free of cost to the public alongside complimentary hot tea. This event beautifully blended the excitement of a historic milestone with community warmth, cementing the beloved staple as a true symbol of Nagpur’s cultural identity.
