Over 4.5 Lakh 5G Sites Across 742 Districts in India Since October 1, 2022
The Centre today said that more than 4.5 lakh sites are providing 5G connectivity across 742 districts in the country since the launch of 5G services on October 1, 2022.
In a written reply in the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for Communications Devusinh Chauhan said, the 5G rollout in India is the fastest anywhere in the world.
He said, over 41,000 mobile towers have been sanctioned with an outlay of 41,331 crore rupees to provide 4G connectivity to nearly 55 thousand villages.
The Minister informed that Centre has amended the ‘Bharat Net Programme’ at an outlay of 1.88 lakh crore rupees to cover all the inhabited villages in the country.
