Tamilnadu: CM M.K.Stalin appealls to Centre to provide more helicopters

Tamilnadu Chief Minister M.K.Stalin has appealed to the Centre to provide more helicopters so that a maximum number of helicopters can be deployed immediately to carry out relief and rescue work.

In a letter to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh today, he said that Tirunelveli and Tuticorin had witnessed historic rains after 1871. 

He said that 40 lakh people in these districts have been marooned due to large flooding by River Thamirabarani and hit badly due to the unprecedented rains.

Mr.Stalin said that despite involving four helicopters presently from the Airforce, Navy and Coast Guard, the enormity of the disaster was unexpected and a large number of habitations need to be covered for rescue and relief distribution
