GITAM Deemed to be University is implementing the National Education Policy (NEP-2020) from the academic year 2023-24 in the true spirit of the policy.

According to this New Liberal Education initiative, students can take BA, BBA, and B.Sc. programs and the first semester is common to all three programs in the second-semester students can change the programs if they want and can take one Major (60 Credits) and one Minor (24 Credits) from the same school or other schools, said Dr. Udaya Kumar, Director Admissions, GITAM, Hyderabad in a press release on 27th June 2023. He explained about the new policy of GITAM Deemed to be University.

NEP-2020 recommended that the undergraduate degree be of either a three or four-year duration. The four-year Bachelor’s program aims to make the Education System holistic, flexible, and multidisciplinary by choosing majors and minors as per the students’ choices. 105 Universities including 19 Central Universities in India are starting these four-year undergraduate programs from the 2023-24 Admission cycle.

The four-year UG Program seeks to equip students with the skills such as complex problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills, along with rigorous specialization in a chosen disciplinary or interdisciplinary major and minor in fields across arts, humanities, management, and sciences.

GITAM offers Engineering, Science, Management, Pharmacy, Architecture, Law, Humanities & Social Sciences, Medicine, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Paramedical Sciences and Public Policy. It also offers fee concession at the time of admission for the students securing top ranks in GITAM Admission Test (GAT). During the year 2022-23, about 3,000 students were given fee concession through merit scholarships worth around Rs.23.53 crores.
