Chief Minister Sri Revanth Reddy stated that, by 2047, Telangana would be transformed into South Asia’s premier textile capital. The State Government, in collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (#CITI), organized the 13th Asia Textile Conference (ATEXCON 2026). During this conference, Chief Minister Sri Revanth Reddy reiterated that, by 2047, Telangana would be transformed into South Asia’s premier textile capital. He urged industrialists to collaborate with the government in fostering an environment capable of transforming the world—a goal consistent with the vision established by the government for the advancement of the textile sector. Speaking at the conference, the Chief Minister stated, “India possesses a magnificent history of producing exquisite textiles. Over the centuries, arts, culture, and traditions have profoundly shaped and refined the textile sector.
During the era of the Nizams, merchants from every corner of the globe flocked to the city of Hyderabad to purchase textiles and pearls. The state of Telangana can recount this legacy with immense pride. Textiles are ingrained in our very DNA.
There are historical reasons why #Telangana stands at the forefront of the textile industry. We are the leading state in the country in terms of cotton production. The quality of our cotton enjoys a global reputation. For Telangana, #Textiles represent far more than just an industry; they are the very livelihood of our people. The state is home to a rich variety of renowned products—ranging from the celebrated Pochampally Ikat and Gadwal sarees to Warangal Durries and Narayanpet handlooms.
Telangana possesses both the requisite skills and the unwavering resolve. The state has already established itself as a leader across numerous sectors, including DeepTech, Pharmaceuticals, Life Sciences, Aerospace, Defense Manufacturing, and Energy. We have established the world-class Kakatiya Mega Textile Park in Warangal, which houses several dedicated apparel parks.
Our vision is #TelanganaRising2047. Our objective is to transform the state into a one-trillion-dollar economy by 2034, and subsequently into a three-trillion-dollar economy by 2047.
With regard to the textile industry, the Telangana government actively fosters growth by providing essential infrastructure such as land, power, and water. Tollywood and Bollywood have already established Hyderabad as their central base; now, Hollywood has joined their ranks. We will actively encourage the film industry to source and develop their fashion requirements right here in Telangana.
Environmental protection is our utmost priority. We are committed to developing “Green Textile Hubs.” We will provide training to the youth—particularly women—enabling them to integrate traditional concepts with modern equipment in the fields of design, cutting, and stitching.
