NABARD Projects higher Priority Sector Credit Potential of ₹ 4.99 Lakh Cr for Karnataka in 2026-27

NABARD Releaseof “State Focus Paper for FY 2026-27”

NABARD projects priority sector credit potential of ₹4.99 lakh crore for Karnataka for the year 2026-27, which is 12% higher than the projections made for 2025-26.

NABARD, Karnataka Regional Office, organised the State Credit Seminarfor the year 2026-27, at its Regional Office in K G Road, Bengaluru on 27February 2026. Shri Dinesh Gundu Rao, Hon’ble Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Government of Karnataka, chaired the seminar. The programmewas attended by Smt. Shalini Rajaneesh, IAS,Chief Secretary,GoK, Shri Karthikeyan, GM RBI, ShriBhavendra Kumar, ED, Canara Bank, Shri Bhaskar Chakraborty, Convenor, SLBC Karnataka, and senior officials from Banks and State Government Departments.

On this occasion, an exhibition showcasing the interventions for development of farmers, rural women under in Microfinance, FPOs and Financial Inclusion was set up at NABARD Office. The exhibition was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Government of Karnataka,Shri Dinesh Gundu Rao.

The seminar started with the release of the State Focus Paper for FY 2026-27 by the Hon’ble Health Minister.

A detailed presentation on the State Focus Paper was made by Mrs. Sreeja Nair, DGM, NABARD covering the sector wise projections of credit potential made by NABARD in the State for the year 2026-27, including the infrastructure and policy support required from the State Govt.

 

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Dinesh Gundu Rao, Hon’ble Minister for Health and Family Welfare congratulated NABARD and stated that NABARD is playing apivotal role in shaping Karnataka’s development landscape by aligning our financial ecosystem with the needs of our people. Each year, NABARD brings together banks, government departments, and sectoral experts to present the State Focus Paper for deliberation, which lays the foundation for annual credit planning by the lead bank.

He stated that in the current financial year, disbursements by NABARD has reached ₹25,189 crore, of which ₹21,560 crore is refinance to banks,particularly to cooperative banksand ₹3,629 crore support is given to the Government of Karnataka by NABARD under RIDF for critical infrastructure.

NABARD has been a trusted partner in Karnataka’s development journey. He lauded the efforts of NABARD in infrastructure development including health infrastructure, computerization of PACS, development of digital platform by use of technology i.e. eKCC for giving loan to farmers.

He extended appreciation to NABARD for its continued commitment to strengthening rural livelihoods, agriculture resilience and financial inclusion in the State. He called upon all stakeholders i.e. banks, cooperatives, government departments, and private partnersto work together to build a healthier, stronger, and more resilient Karnataka.

Dr. Surendra Babu, Chief General Manager (CGM), NABARD, Karnataka Regional Office in his address stated that for FY 2026–27, NABARD has assessed an exploitable credit potential of ₹4.99 lakh crore, a 12% increase over the previous year. Agriculture and allied sectors account for 45%, while MSMEs comprise ₹2.14 lakh crore or 42% of the total potentialandother priority sector activities at Rs.0.57 lakh crore (11.62%).He stated that the theme chosen for the State Credit Seminar – “” Women Farmers and MSMEs focusing on Agro processing: Inclusive Credit for Sustainable Rural Development”.
