International Women’s Day Is Being Observed Today: President Murmu to Address National Level Celebrations

International Women’s Day is being observed today. The theme this year is “Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls.” It highlights the need to strengthen women’s rights, ensuring access to justice and accelerating action towards gender equality worldwide. To mark the occasion, various programmes are being organised across the country. In New Delhi, President Droupadi Murmu will join International Women’s Day celebrations at Manekshaw Centre.

Minister for Women and Child Development Annpurna Devi and the Minister of State Savitri Thakur will also be present at the event. Further, the Ministry of Women and Child Development is also organising a women-led walk titled Shakti Walk along Kartavya Path. In the Shakti Walk, women Participants from diverse fields will walk together, highlighting the central role women play in shaping a progressive and inclusive India.

International Women’s Day is observed to recognise women for their achievements across national, ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic, or political boundaries. The day calls for equal rights and opportunities for all. Recognised by the United Nations in 1977, the day has become a global moment to push for progress on gender equality.

The central government has been actively working towards women’s empowerment and gender equality through various policies, schemes, and legislative measures. India has undertaken several initiatives to ensure that girls have equal access to quality education from primary schooling to higher education.

This year, the day is being marked by a global campaign theme,’ Give to Gain’, that highlights the power of collective support in advancing gender equality. It encourages individuals, organisations and communities to contribute time, resources, mentorship and opportunities that help women grow and succeed.

President Droupadi Murmu To Address National Level Celebrations In New Delhi

President Droupadi Murmu has extended greetings and best wishes to all citizens of the country, especially to women on the occasion of International Women’s Day. In her message, the President said that Women are the foundation of society and nation and educated, self-reliant, and empowered women can strongly contribute to a prosperous and progressive nation.

President Murmu added that women have demonstrated their talent and hard work in various fields including education, science, sports, art and defence. The President highlighted that today young women are shaping the dreams of a new India.

President Murmu urged every citizen to come together to work towards a society where women have equal opportunities and can move forward and achieve success on the basis of their capabilities. The President wished a bright future for all women.
