GITAM Deemed to be University has launched GITAM Research Excellence Through Mentoring, a strategic initiative aimed at strengthening research capabilities and fostering a culture of academic excellence across its campuses. The programme has been designed to enhance research skills through expert mentorship and knowledge-sharing sessions, informed Dr.Manjula Rao, Director – Strategic Initiatives, in a press release on Thursday.
As part of the initiative, the inaugural online lecture will be held on June 18, 2026, at 6:00 PM IST on the theme “Medical Technology and Interdisciplinary Healthcare Innovation”, to be delivered by Dr.HyndaviBalla, Department of Oral Pathology and Microbiology, GITAM. The session will be moderated by Dr.Dhruba Chowdhury.
The lecture will focus on interdisciplinary healthcare innovation, highlighting the convergence of medicine, dentistry, biomedical engineering, artificial intelligence, and digital health technologies. Discussions will cover the administrative and regulatory processes involved in conducting clinically relevant research, including ethical approvals, clinical validation, regulatory pathways, documentation, and compliance requirements essential for translational and innovation-driven healthcare projects.
The university has invited research faculty, postdoctoral scholars, Ph.D. scholars, and aspiring researchers to participate in the session and benefit from the insights shared by leading experts in the field.
The Research Excellence Through Mentoring initiative was conceptualized earlier this year under the guidance of Professor SunitaHo, a distinguished researcher from University of California, San Francisco, whose research interests span biomaterials and bioengineering. Professor Ho visited GITAM in May and conducted a Research and Mentoring Retreat, laying the foundation for this mentorship-driven research programme.
The organizers look forward to active participation from the academic and research community to advance collaborative, interdisciplinary, and impactful research across all GITAM campuses.
