GITAM Hosts EPOCH 4.0, a Three-Day Technical Extravaganza

The GitHub Community at GITAM, Hyderabad, in association with GITAM Student Life, successfully organized EPOCH 4.0, a three-day technical event from January 20 to 22, 2026, aimed at fostering hands-on learning, collaboration, and exposure to emerging technologies.

The event commenced with Tech Trivia, an engaging multi-round competition that tested participants’ knowledge across software development, hardware, cybersecurity, tech history, and emerging technologies. This was followed by Docker 101, a hands-on session that introduced students to containerization, covering core Docker concepts, installation, essential commands, image building, and container management.

Day Two focused on collaborative development practices through a session on Open-Source Development, where students were introduced to open-source philosophy and contribution workflows on platforms like GitHub. The day concluded with a Productivity Tool Coding Challenge, encouraging teams to design and build innovative tools under time constraints.

The final day featured Prompt to Page, a workshop showcasing a complete prompt-to-production workflow for modern web applications, followed by Techscapades 4.0, a campus-wide treasure hunt that blended problem-solving with teamwork. The event concluded with an insightful session on Large Language Models, highlighting their evolution, applications, and trends in the open-source AI ecosystem.

Adding to the vibrant atmosphere, interactive learning stalls with tech-based games and challenges were set up throughout the event, many of which were designed and developed by GitHub Community members themselves. These stalls attracted enthusiastic participation, contributing to an overall turnout of 200+ participants across the three days.

Overall, EPOCH 4.0 provided a well-rounded platform for students to enhance technical skills, build confidence, and gain practical insights into real-world software development through learning, competition, and collaboration.

Drone Bootcamp Highlights Hands-on Learning and Advanced Flight Experience

The fourth day of the Drone Bootcamp witnessed enthusiastic participation from students as they immersed themselves in hands-on drone assembly and flight operations. Under expert guidance, participants successfully assembled seven Quad X copters and conducted live test flights, gaining valuable practical experience in drone construction and performance testing.

Students were also given the opportunity to fly a GPS-enabled Hexacopter, providing exposure to advanced navigation, flight stabilization, and control systems used in industry-grade drones. In addition, Nano Drone flying sessions were organized to help beginners build confidence while understanding fundamental flight controls and maneuvering techniques.

Throughout the day, students actively engaged in drone assembly, calibration, and flight operations, demonstrating keen interest, technical curiosity, and excitement for emerging aerial technologies.

The Drone Bootcamp continues to deliver hands-on, industry-oriented training, effectively bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world applications in drone technology.
