New Delhi: Chief Minister Shri Revanth Reddy has urged Prime Minister Shri narendramodi to extend central assistance for several key infrastructure projects vital to Telangana state. He requested the Centre to facilitate discussions with the Maharashtra government to ensure the efficient utilization of Godavari waters, keeping in view the agricultural and drinking water needs.
Stating that the use of Godavari waters is extremely crucial for the state’s future requirements, the Chief Minister, after the NITI Aayog meeting, met with the Prime Minister and submitted several proposals, including the expansion of Hyderabad Metro Phase–2.
He informed that proposals worth ₹38,595 crore have been submitted for a 122.9 km metro expansion across 7 corridors in Metro Phase–2. He requested that this project be approved as a joint venture between the central and state governments.
The Chief Minister urged for immediate approval of the works on the Hyderabad Regional Ring Road. Reminding that the state government has already agreed to bear 50% of the land acquisition costs in the northern segment, he noted that ₹626 crore has been released to the NHAI. He brought to the Prime Minister’s attention that land acquisition awards for over 90% of the northern segment have been completed.
The Chief Minister explained that the construction of the Regional Ring Road’s southern segment is equally critical for Telangana state. He stated that once the southern corridor from Choutuppal to Sangareddy is completed, the transportation network around Hyderabad will be further strengthened.
He appealed to approve and implement both the northern and southern corridors simultaneously, adding that alignment maps related to the southern segment and HMDA master plan notifications have already been provided to the central Ministry of Road Transport.
“The Centre should grant approval for the Hyderabad – Amaravati – Bandar Port Expressway. This 12-lane expressway connecting Bandar Port via Amaravati from Hyderabad will be strategically beneficial for Telangana.
Through this highway, proposed with a 120-meter right of way, the landlocked Telangana will gain port connectivity. It will serve as a key route for exports in the pharma, electronics, and food processing sectors,” he explained to the Prime Minister.
The Chief Minister also prominently raised the issue of initiating works on the #Warangal Airport. “The required land acquisition for Warangal Airport has already been completed and handed over to the Airport Authority. Once the Warangal Airport becomes operational, it will bring further benefits to the industrial, educational, and tourism sectors in northern Telangana,” he said.
He requested the establishment of an #IIM in Hyderabad. “The state government is ready to allocate the 200 acres of land required for the IIM. Telangana already hosts premier national educational institutions like IIT, IIIT, NALSAR, and TIFR. Establishing an IIM will also help fulfill the aspirations of the New Education Policy-2020,” he explained to the Prime Minister.
