Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has approved large-scale procurement of pulses and oilseeds at the Minimum Support Price for four states. The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare said that the procurement will be undertaken under the Price Support Scheme in Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. Uttar Pradesh has emerged as the biggest beneficiary under the approvals for the Summer 2026 season.
Procurement of 48 thousand 298 metric tonnes of moong, 97 thousand 970 metric tonnes of urad and 41 thousand 718 metric tonnes of groundnut has been approved for the state. The total MSP value of these procurements exceeds one thousand 490 crore rupees.
In Gujarat, procurement of 18 thousand 250 metric tonnes of moong has been approved for the Summer 2026 season. The MSP value of the approved procurement is estimated at more than 160 crore rupees.
The Minister also approved an enhancement in the moong procurement limit for Tamil Nadu under the Rabi Marketing Season 2025-26 from 885 metric tonnes to 990 metric tonnes, enabling the purchase of an additional 105 metric tonnes of the crop. The total MSP value of the approved procurement in the state stands at 8 crore 68 lakh rupees.
Mr Chouhan approved procurement of two thousand 115 MT of moong during the Summer 2026 season for Haryana. The total MSP value of the procurement will exceed 18 crore rupees. The decision is being viewed as a significant step in the interest of pulse and oilseed farmers, as it will ensure the benefits of MSP and provide relief from market price pressures.
