CBI Arrests IAS Officer Ram Kumar Singh in Panchkula Municipal Funds Misappropriation Case

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Ram Kumar Singh, an IAS officer and the then Commissioner of the Panchkula Municipal Corporation, in connection with a case involving the misappropriation of the corporation’s public funds. The case pertains to the diversion of public funds from the Panchkula Municipal Corporation’s account held at the IDFC First Bank branch in Sector 32, Chandigarh.

According to a press release issued by the CBI, the investigation revealed that the Municipal Corporation’s bank account was opened in violation of the prevailing guidelines issued by the Finance Department of the Haryana Government. The investigative agency stated that information was deliberately entered into the account opening form to facilitate the concealment of fraudulent financial transactions that were to be carried out later.
