Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar visited Banihal yesterday and reviewed arrangements for the forthcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY). Deputy Commissioner Ramban Mohammad Alyas Khan apprised the Divisional Commissioner about preparations by the district administration and line departments to ensure the convenience, safety and welfare of pilgrims.
During the visit, the Divisional Commissioner inspected Yatra Camp Lamber and reviewed facilities for pilgrims, including accommodation, sanitation, drinking water, power supply, medical care and security. He took stock of the installation of toilet units, waste management systems, water supply, power infrastructure and bedding capacity and directed departments concerned to ensure all facilities remain operational well before the Yatra.
He directed the District Administration to put in place fire safety measures at lodging centres, langar sites and other locations witnessing pilgrim footfall and to maintain the readiness of fire tenders and emergency response teams throughout the Yatra period.
Amarnath Yatra: Trains 75 Data Entry Operators For Smooth On-Spot Registration Of Pilgrims
In Jammu and Kashmir, in order to ensure smooth and hassle-free on-spot registration of Shri Amarnathji Yatra pilgrims, a training programme for 75 Data Entry Operators was conducted at District Headquarters Jammu yesterday. The training was imparted by the District Informatics Centre (NIC) Jammu to familiarise the operators with the on-spot registration process and the eKYC procedures to be followed during the annual Yatra.
The on-spot registration facility for Yatris shall be made available at Mahajan Hall, Shalamar, and the Tawi Riverfront, Jammu. For Sadhus, the designated centres are Gita Bhawan, Parade, and Shri Ram Mandir, Purani Mandi, Jammu. Conversion of non-eKYC to eKYC registrations will be done at the Railway Station, Jammu and Yatri Niwas Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu.
Pilgrims undertaking the Yatra via both Pahalgam as well as Baltal routes can avail themselves of the registration facility at these designated centres. Upon successful on-spot registration, RFID cards shall be issued to the pilgrims, which are mandatory for undertaking the Yatra. It is pertinent to mention that online registration for the Yatra has already commenced as of April 15, 2026. For on-spot registration, token distribution will start on June 30, and subsequently, for on-spot registration and conversion of non-eKYC to eKYC registrations will begin from July 1 onwards.
