Odisha: Bhubaneswar, Jharsuguda Airports On High Alert After Hoax Bomb Threats

In Odisha, the Bhubaneswar and Jharsuguda airports were put on high alert this afternoon, and bomb and dog squads were immediately deployed following bomb threats from a Twitter handle. Later, the airport authorities were informed that it was a hoax, as no bombs were detected after a thorough security check.

The Biju Patnaik International Airport authorities in Bhubaneswar said they received a bomb threat from a post on X claiming that a bomb was present on the Bengaluru-Bhubaneswar Air Akash flight, which had arrived in the afternoon.

The airport was immediately cordoned off by security personnel, and an extensive search was carried out, including a thorough check of the flight, but it was later found that the threat was a hoax. Veer Surendra Sai Airport authorities in Jharsuguda also received a bomb threat regarding the Bengaluru-Jharsuguda Indigo flight, but after a thorough check, it was determined that the threat was also a hoax.
