Kashmir Valley Hosts First-Ever International Marathon In Srinagar

The first-ever International Marathon was held at Srinagar in Kashmir Valley Yesterday. In a landmark and one of the first ever international events in the Kashmir Valley, Kashmir Marathon was flagged off by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah this morning from Polo View Srinagar.

The Marathon marks a significant moment for the region since it witnesses the participation of about 2000 athletes including 59 international athletes. Bollywood Actor Sunil Shetty is also participating in the Marathon. The Athletes in the Marathon will run 42 Kms full Marathon and 21 Kms half Marathon.

Earlier, Director Tourism J&K while addressing a press conference in Srinagar said that this first ever international event will certainly send a message across the globe that the Paradise on Earth is safe, peaceful and is ready to host any international event.
