Maharashtra and Jharkhand Assembly Polls: Filing Of Nominations Ends This Evening

In Maharashtra, the filing of nominations for single-phase assembly polls will end today. The scrutiny of nominations will be done tomorrow. The last date for withdrawal of candidature is 4th November. Voting for all 288 seats will be held on 20th November in a single phase. The counting of votes will be taken up on November 23.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, his deputy Ajit Pawar and senior Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar filed their nomination papers yesterday. Other prominent leaders who filed nomination papers during the day were state forest minister and BJP leader Sudhir Mungantiwar and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray’s son Amit Thackeray.

Jharkhand Assembly Polls: Filing Of Nominations To End This Evening

The filing of nominations will end today for the second phase of assembly elections in Jharkhand. Thirty-eight constituencies will go to polls in this phase on the 20th of November. 632 candidates have so far filed their nominations. Scrutiny of nominations will be done on 30th October, while candidates can withdraw their nominations till 1st November.

Meanwhile, during search operations, illegal materials and cash worth over 86 crore 32 lakh rupees have been seized from different parts of the state since the announcement of the assembly elections. Twenty FIRs have been lodged for violations of the model code of conduct.
