Union Minister of State for Home, Bandi Sanjay Kumar has been detained by Telangana police in Hyderabad for staging a protest in support of aspirants of Telangana Public Service Commission (TPSC) Group 1 services.

The Group I aspirants have been demanding postponement of the main examination, raising concerns over the impact of certain government orders on the recruitment process and reservation. After meeting the protesting aspirants yesterday, the Minister took out a “chalo secretariat” rally to meet Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and convey the concerns of the aspirants.

He led the protesters towards the secretariat, however, it was abruptly halted by police near the tank bund, about half a kilometer from the secretariat. The Minister expressed his anger at the police and emphasized that he intended to discuss the grievances of the job aspirants directly with the Chief Minister.

The situation became volatile as the police, after multiple requests for Sanjay to leave, detained Mr Sanjay and whisked away in a vehicle and “dropped” at the state BJP office in Nampally, about three kilometres away from the secretariat.
