Hyderabad: GITAM School of Technology to Observe ‘Cyber Security Week 2024’

The Department of CSE at GITAM School of Technology, Hyderabad, in collaboration with Vemana Institute of Technology, Bangalore, is excited to announce the observance of ‘Cyber Security Week 2024’ from October 21st to 24th, 2024. This event is being held in partnership with the Cyber Security STC of Bangalore and the IEEE Computer Society Bangalore, aiming to enhance the knowledge and skills of students in the rapidly evolving field of cybersecurity.

The week-long event will kick off with an inauguration ceremony on October 21, followed by an inspiring keynote address by Vishal Kalla from Hitachi India, Hyderabad, titled “Cybersecurity in Action: Industry Insights and Solutions for the Digital Age.” Concurrently, Gururaj Deshpande will present his talk on “From Minor Bugs to Major Breaches: Cyber Attack Stories” at the Vemana Institute of Technology, providing valuable insights into real-world cyber security challenges.

In addition to the keynote addresses, participants can look forward to a Forensics Workshop on ‘Big Cyber Informatics,’ led by Dilip S., Assistant Professor at Vemana Institute of Technology, from 2-4 PM on the same day.

On October 22, students will have the opportunity to participate in the Securathon Ideathon (10 AM – 5 PM, online), where they can present their innovative ideas on selected cyber security topics. Exciting cash prizes will be awarded, including ₹2,000 for the first prize, ₹1,500 for second, ₹1,000 for third, and ₹500 for a consolation prize. There is no registration fee for this event; however, registration is compulsory.

The highlight of the week will be the Securehack 24-hour Hackathon, which will commence on October 23 at 10:00 AM and conclude the following day at 12:00 PM. Participants will compete for impressive cash prizes, including ₹10,000 for the first prize, ₹7,500 for second, ₹5,000 for third, and ₹2,500 for a consolation prize. Teams are encouraged to register, with a nominal fee of ₹70 for IEEE Teams and ₹100 for other teams. An IEEE Team must consist of at least one IEEE Member.
