Bhupender Yadav Participates In ‘Ek Pedh Maa Ke Naam’ Plantation Program In Suraj Kund

Union Minister of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav today participated in a program for the plantation of saplings by officers and staff of the Ministry under the ‘Ek Pedh Maa Ke Naam’ initiative in the Suraj Kund Area. During the event, Mr Yadav also visited the exhibitions on display.

Addressing the gathering, Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena mentioned that the temperature in Delhi has soared to as high as 52 degrees Celsius, and the water levels are decreasing day by day, which is alarming for all of us. Mr Saxena appealed to the public to join the campaign and plant saplings.

Set up ‘Matri Van’ today at Asola-Bhati Wildlife Sanctuary by undertaking a Tree Plantation Campaign on degraded forest land under the #एक_पेड़_माँ_के_नाम #Plant4Mother campaign launched by PM Shri Narendramodi on the occasion of World Environment Day on 5 June.

The #एक_पेड़_माँ_के_नाम campaign aims to plant approximately 140 crore saplings across the country during 2024-25, with a specific milestone of planting 80 crore saplings by September 2024.

By planting trees, we not only show our respect and pay homage to our mothers but also collectively combine our efforts to combat  climate change, improving our overall environment and ecology including  air and soil quality, and supporting biodiversity and carbon sequestration.

Balance between scientific progress and nature needs to be maintained: Bhupender Yadav

Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav has said that the sapling plantation initiative launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi would help in achieving green cover targets, promoting a green economy and adopting a sustainable lifestyle for combating the challenges of climate change.

The minister made these remarks while participating in a tree plantation drive organised in Asola-Bhati Wildlife Sanctuary in New Delhi today.

During the event, the minister pointed out that there is a need to maintain a balance between scientific progress and nature. Mr. Yadav highlighted the importance of deep ecological sense which calls for deep organic relations between nature and its people.

He also referred to the environment-friendly lifestyle as mentioned by the Prime Minister in the Glasgow Conference where he announced the need to adopt LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment) as an important step towards combating climate change collectively.

The sapling plantation campaign was launched by the Prime Minister on World Environment Day on the 5th of this month.
