Indira Gandhi Zoological Park (IGZP), Visakhapatnam is happy to announce that Smt. Anna Konidala Garu, W/o Sri Konidala Pawan Kalyan Garu, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Environment, Forest, Science & Technology, Panchayati Raj, Rural Development & Rural Water Supply & Sanitation, Government of Andhra Pradesh, has adopted one Asiatic Elephant and one Royal Bengal Tiger housed at IGZP for a period of one year under the Animal Adoption Programme of the Zoo, Said Smt. On the occasion of her birthday on 1-8-2026, Smt. Anna Konidala Garu adopted one Asiatic Elephant, contributing ₹4,30,000 towards its care and welfare for one year at Indira Gandhi Zoological Park. The Asiatic Elephant, recognized as the National Heritage Animal of India, symbolizes wisdom, strength and the nation’s rich natural and cultural legacy. This generous gesture reflects her commitment towards wildlife conservation and supports the continued care, nutrition, environmental enrichment and veterinary well-being of this magnificent species.
Along with Elephant, Smt. Anna Konidala Garu adopted one Royal Bengal Tiger for a period of one year by contributing ₹2,00,000 towards its care and welfare. The Royal Bengal Tiger, India’s National Animal, is an enduring symbol of courage, pride and the country’s extraordinary biodiversity. This thoughtful act of wildlife adoption reinforces the importance of tiger conservation and inspires the public to actively participate in protecting India’s iconic wildlife for future generations.
A total contribution of ₹6,30,000 (Rupees Six Lakh Thirty Thousand Only) has been made towards the adoption of the Asiatic Elephant and the Royal Bengal Tiger for a period of one year, said Smt. G. Mangamma, Curator, Indira Gandhi Zoological Park (IGZP).

The IGZP Animal Adoption Programme provides structured opportunities for individuals, families, educational institutions, organizations and corporate bodies to actively contribute to animal welfare and wildlife conservation. The programme also offers several privileges to adopters while encouraging greater public participation in conservation initiatives. Donations made towards animal adoption are eligible for exemption under Section 80G(5) of the Income Tax Act, 1961, under the Old Tax Regime, subject to applicable provisions.
