The meeting laid focus on conservation, education, MEE-ZOO evaluation and public engagement to strengthen zoos as centres of wildlife conservation.
Released the ‘Care in Captivity’ compendium prepared by Central Zoo Authority, showcasing best practices in zoo management, conservation breeding and animal welfare. A step forward in transforming zoos into centres of conservation and education.
Union Minister Bhupender Yadav Chaired the 27th Annual General Meeting of wii india-Society in Dehradun today. Reviewed key projects including cheetah conservation, Great Indian Bustard breeding, and wildlife crossing monitoring across major infrastructure projects.
Also deliberated on advancing research and documentation with regards to new species discoveries, and strengthening capacity-building initiatives.

Reviewed proposals across key sectors and progress on national wildlife initiatives. Held important deliberations on environmental flows in Chambal, grassland and rangeland conservation, dependence of pastoral communities on forest, and wild water buffalo conservation.
