Telangana: Forest Dept Successfully Organised State-wide Special Vana Mahotsav: 10 Lakh Saplings Planted in a Single Day
A special ‘Vanamahotsavam’ (tree plantation festival) program was grandly organized across the state on Tuesday. As part of this initiative, the Head of Forest Force (HoFF), Vinay Kumar, planted saplings alongside students from the Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Telangana Backward Classes Welfare Residential School in the Mankhal range.
Speaking on the occasion, Vinay Kumar stated that the Vanamahotsavam program—launched last June by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy with the aim of enhancing greenery in the state—is targeted for completion by the last week of September.
He mentioned that Collectors, Forest Department officials, and public representatives coordinated to organize these special plantation events in all districts across the state. He revealed that the goal for this specific drive was to plant approximately 10 lakh saplings across the state in a single day.
He called upon people from all walks of life—including school students, public representatives, government officials, and staff—to participate in this program. He urged everyone to consider planting a sapling as their personal responsibility.
PCCF Vinay Kumar specifically encouraged students to cultivate the habit of planting and nurturing a sapling while celebrating their birthdays. He emphasized that, alongside planting, equal importance should be given to the care and protection of the saplings.
He urged the public to participate in the government’s initiatives to increase greenery in the state and to fulfill their responsibility towards environmental protection by planting and nurturing at least one sapling each. CCF Priyanka Varghese, Ranga Reddy DFO Shiv Ashish Singh, Additional Collector Chandra Reddy, FDO Venkatayya, school teachers, and other officials participated in the event.
