Telangana: Forest Dept gears up for Vanamahotsav with target of planting 16.06 Cr saplings; CM to inaugurate

The Forest Department is making extensive arrangements to celebrate *Vanamahotsavam* (the annual tree-planting festival) on a grand scale across the state. Officials are preparing for the event’s inauguration by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy at the Gurramguda Urban Forest Park in Ranga Reddy district.

Ahmed Nadeem, Principal Secretary of the Forest Department, and Vinay Kumar, Head of Forest Force, inspected the Gurramguda Park area alongside CCF Priyanka Varghese. They are overseeing arrangements and coordinating with officials from various departments to ensure the event’s success.

During the visit, senior Forest Department officials inspected the park and issued instructions regarding the necessary tasks. A comprehensive review was conducted covering aspects such as venue setup, the tree-planting activity, parking, security, and drinking water facilities.

The government has set a target to plant 16.06 crore saplings across the state this year. Of these, 6.18 crore saplings will be planted under the aegis of the Panchayat Raj Department, and 4.50 crore saplings within the HMDA limits. The Forest Department will undertake the raising and planting of 89.59 lakh saplings.

An action plan has been formulated to leverage the monsoon season for large-scale tree planting across government offices, educational institutions, villages, towns, and along highways. The government has already directed officials to give special priority to the care of the planted saplings.
