International Women’s Day celebrations were held grandly at the Forest Academy, Dhulapalli under the Telangana Forest Department under the title “Green Queens”. PCCF (HoFF) Dr. C. Suvarna and Additional DGP Mrs. Swathi Lakra were present as the chief guests for this program. The program, organized under the Forest Academy Director Priyanka Varghese, was inaugurated by the chief guests by lighting the lamp.
Speaking on the occasion, PCCF Dr. C. Suvarna said that Women’s Day is not an event limited to women only, men also need to participate in it and strengthen the concept of equality. He said that such programs are key in increasing awareness as a platform for women and men to share their views together.
PCCF Dr. C. Suvarna stated that although women face many challenges in life and move forward, they are mentally very strong even if they appear a little weak physically. She said that among the employees working as beat officers in the forest department, about 60 men have left their jobs, while the number of women who have left their jobs is very low. She said that this indicates the ability of women to bravely face the challenges they face.
PCCF Dr. Suvarna said that the women frontline staff working in the forest department play a crucial role in the conservation of forests. She said that they are performing their responsibilities more effectively through constant exposure and skill development in the forests. She said that women are taking the lead in protecting the forest wealth by performing their duties with courage and dedication.
Additional DGP Mrs. Swati Lakra said that she feels really proud to see women performing their duties in uniform. She said that women working in various departments including the police, medical and forest departments are courageously serving the society and setting an example for everyone. She said that women are not only maintaining security but also building the future of the society.
On the occasion of Women’s Day, 25 women staff members who have performed best in forest conservation across the state were presented with Pratibha Puraskars.
PCCF (Wildlife) Mr. Vinay Kumar, PCCF Mr. Ratnakar Jauhari, Forest Development Corporation MD & VC Mrs. Sunitha M. Bhagwat, CCF (CAMPA) Mrs. Kshitija, senior forest officials Arpana, Srilakshmi, Praveena, Academy Deputy Director Rekha Bhanu and others participated in the program.
