Telangana: CM Revanth Reddy to launch ‘Vanamahotsavam’ by planting sapling at Gurramguda Eco Park tomorrow

Senior Forest Department officials inspect the Eco Park; development works worth ₹35.50 crore set to commence.

The Forest Department has completed extensive arrangements for ‘Vanamahotsavam-2026,’ a prestigious event organized by the state government. Chief Minister Sri A. Revanth Reddy to inaugurate the program tomorrow by planting a sapling at the Gurramguda Eco Park in Ranga Reddy district.

In preparation for the event, senior officials—including Head of Forest Force (PCCF) Vinay Kumar, CCF Priyanka Varghese, and Pollution Control Board Member Secretary Gugulothu Ravi—visited the Gurramguda Eco Park to inspect the arrangements. They issued instructions regarding the necessary tasks and emphasized the need for coordination with officials from various departments to ensure the event’s success.

A comprehensive review was conducted covering aspects such as the setup of the dais, the VIP planting area, parking, security, drinking water facilities, and visitor management. Officials were directed to ensure that all arrangements are in place so that the public and public representatives attending the event face no inconvenience.

As part of the program, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy will officially launch ‘Vanamahotsavam’ by planting a *Nagalingam* (Cannonball tree/ *Couroupita guianensis*) sapling. The State Minister for Forest and Environment, Smt. Konda Surekha, will plant a *Neredu* (Jamun/Black Plum) sapling. Public representatives, senior officials, students, and local residents will also participate in planting saplings, thereby contributing to the goal of a ‘Green Telangana’.

The government has set a target to plant 16.06 crore saplings across the state this year. To facilitate this, saplings have been prepared in 13,242 nurseries throughout the state. While 6.18 crore saplings will be planted under the aegis of the Panchayat Raj Department and 4.50 crore within the HMDA limits, the Forest Department will undertake the raising and planting of 89.59 lakh saplings.

It is well known that the Gurranguda Park, which had been mired in legal disputes for three decades, was legally recognized and declared a ‘Reserved Forest’ by the Forest Department following a Supreme Court verdict. The Chief Minister is set to inaugurate development works carried out here at a cost of ₹11.57 crore. These facilities include a 3.6-kilometer security compound wall, an internal drainage system, visitor amenities, modern restrooms, entrance gates, a yoga shed, a gazebo, eco-trail paths, and a canopy watchtower. With an additional ₹6.27 crore spent on environmental conservation measures, the total value of development activities implemented at the Gurranguda Eco Park stands at ₹17.84 crore.

Furthermore, across the state—specifically in the districts of Nizamabad, Kothagudem, Hanumakonda, Medak, Mahabubnagar, Mulugu, Narayanpet, Bhupalpally, Sangareddy, Ranga Reddy, and Warangal—works worth ₹17… The Chief Minister will virtually inaugurate development projects worth ₹66 crore, covering urban parks, eco-parks, wildlife conservation, zoo modernization, residential buildings, and environmental infrastructure.

In total, the Chief Minister will launch development initiatives worth ₹35.50 crore, comprising projects worth ₹17.84 crore to be inaugurated physically at Gurramguda and projects worth ₹17.66 crore to be launched virtually across the state.

An action plan has been formulated to utilize the monsoon season for large-scale tree plantation drives across government offices, educational institutions, villages, towns, and along highways. The government has already directed officials to take special measures to protect every planted sapling and ensure its survival.
The Forest Department has called upon the public to participate in this tree-planting festival, which aims at environmental conservation and achieving a ‘Green Telangana.’ Ranga Reddy District DFO Rohit, Medchal-Malkajgiri DFO Venumadhav, FRO Srinivas Reddy, and others participated in the event.
