SCCL: 28 rakes of coal must be transported daily to Thermal Power Stations to ensure coal shortage: CMD

Singareni Bhavan, July 31: With power demand increasing across the State during the monsoon season, Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) is fully geared up to ensure uninterrupted coal supply to thermal power stations, said Chairman and Managing Director Dr. Buddhaprakash Jyoti. He directed all Area General Managers to supply 28 to 32 rakes of quality coal every day in accordance with the requirements of thermal power plants.

The CMD was addressing a review meeting with General Managers of all SCCL Areas through video conference from Singareni Bhavan, Hyderabad, on Friday. The meeting reviewed coal production, dispatch, overburden removal, and coal quality.

He stated that although continuous rains have had some impact on production from opencast mines, all Areas should take adequate precautionary measures to achieve the prescribed production targets. He also instructed officials to implement special action plans to enhance production from underground mines during the monsoon season.

Dr. Buddhaprakash Jyoti said SCCL is according top priority to the power requirements of Telangana and is presently supplying 75–80 percent of its coal production to thermal power stations to meet the State’s electricity demand.

Keeping in view of flooding in Singareni areas along the Godavari river during the monsoon, he directed that SCCL Rescue Teams and officials of various departments should remain fully prepared to extend immediate assistance in coordination with the local administration whenever required.

He further instructed officials to focus on achieving production targets in all opencast mines in line with coal output, accomplish the production targets set for the current financial year, and expedite the process of obtaining all statutory clearances for new mining projects to achieve SCCL’s long-term targets of 70 million tonnes of coal production and 500 million cubic metres of overburden removal.

The meeting was attended by Directors Sri. L.V. Suryanarayana (Operations), Sri.K. Venkateswarlu (Projects & Planning), Sri.Gowtham Potru (Personnel & Finance), Sri.M. Tirumala Rao (E&M), Executive Director (Coal Movement) Sri.B. Venkanna, General Manager (Coordination & Marketing) Sri.T. Srinivas, Area General Managers, General Managers from Corporate Departments, and Heads of various Departments.
