The Government today said that over 58 Million Tonnes of coal stock are available with coal-based plants in the country. It will run the plants for an average of 19 days at an 85% Plant Load Factor. In a written reply today in the Rajya Sabha,
Minister of State for Power Shripad Naik said that the government has taken various steps to ensure adequate availability and supply of coal in view of the rising demand for electricity during the summer season.
These include an Inter-Ministerial Sub Group meeting, to address the issues of coal supply to the power sector, and two windows have been created for the grant of fresh coal linkages to Thermal Power Plants under revised SHAKTI policy 2025.
