NTA conducted NEET-UG 2026 Re-examination peacefully across India and abroad amidst tight security

The National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET-UG) 2026 re-examination for admission to undergraduate medical courses was conducted today amid tight security arrangements. It was held across 551 cities in India and 14 cities abroad for more than 22.79 lakh candidates. The examination was conducted from 2 PM to 5:15 PM in English and 12 Indian languages.

Ahead of the examination, the National Testing Agency (NTA) conducted a nationwide mock drill yesterday to verify the functioning of all systems, including jammers, CCTV cameras, biometric verification systems, and frisking procedures. More than two lakh personnel, including observers, coordinators, police personnel, and administrative staff, were deployed to ensure the smooth, secure, and transparent conduct of the examination.

A multi-layered security framework was put in place, including CCTV surveillance, Aadhaar-based biometric verification, GPS-enabled vehicles with police escorts for the transportation of examination materials, and secure handling of confidential documents under sealed protocols. The NTA also actively monitored social media platforms to curb misinformation and prevent malpractice.
