NMDC taking free healthcare services to every village; hundreds of villagers have received free treatment

The tribal community is benefiting from medical camps organized across 10 gram panchayats, including Samalwar, Bhansi, Bade Bacheli, Dhurli, Padhapur, and Nerli.

Hyderabad, June 20, 2026: NMDC, the country’s leading mining company, is continuously working to improve the standard of living of surrounding rural and tribal communities through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs.

As part of its efforts in critical areas such as health, education, and livelihoods, the company is successfully organizing free medical camps across various Gram Panchayats in the Dantewada region, focusing on community health awareness and access to healthcare services.

Under this initiative, health camps have been organized since May 19 in the Gram Panchayats of Bhansi, Bade Bacheli, Dhurli, Padapur, Nerli, Dugeli, Ganjenar, Masenar, Molsnar, and Kamlur, with hundreds of villagers availing themselves of health check-ups and consultation services. A significant number of the beneficiaries belonged to the Scheduled Tribe (ST) community.

This healthcare initiative by NMDC is ongoing and will continue to reach more villages in the future, providing free healthcare services to rural and tribal communities.

The most recent medical camp was held on June 19 in Kamlur Gram Panchayat, where 96 villagers received free healthcare services. The Bailadila region is a remote area with a predominantly tribal population, where regular access to quality healthcare facilities remains a challenge. In this context,

NMDC’s initiative to extend healthcare services to remote villages—such as Kalepal, Tikanpal, Kodenar, Benpal, Kadampal, Madadi, Hiroli, Gumiyapal, Samalwar, Cholnar, Madkamiras, and Palnar—is proving to be immensely valuable for the local community.

During these medical camps, specialist doctors provide general health check-ups, blood pressure (BP) tests, Random Blood Sugar (RBS) tests, and assessments of vital health indicators, alongside offering health consultations.

Additionally, awareness sessions are being conducted on topics such as nutrition, maternal and child health, personal hygiene, and healthy lifestyles. Patients requiring advanced treatment were referred to nearby health facilities, and free medicines are being distributed in accordance with medical advice.

These camps have not only raised health awareness among villagers but also enabled the early detection of non-communicable diseases such as hypertension and diabetes. Residents of remote villages have saved time and resources by accessing healthcare services within their own localities, and a positive attitude towards the importance of regular health check-ups is developing.

Appreciating this initiative by NMDC, villagers noted that such camps are immensely beneficial—especially for the elderly, women, and children—who often have to travel long distances to access medical facilities. The availability of specialist medical consultations and medicines close to their villages has brought them great relief.

NMDC believes that true and sustainable development in any region is possible only when the local community is healthy, aware, and empowered. Driven by this vision, the company is continuously striving to expand access to healthcare services, strengthen public awareness, and bring about positive changes in the lives of rural and tribal communities.

Notably, as part of its efforts to strengthen quality healthcare infrastructure in rural and tribal areas, NMDC has recently provided financial support for the operation of a super-specialty hospital in Jagdalpur. This initiative marks a significant step towards providing modern, specialized medical services to thousands of people in the Bastar region.

NMDC’s initiatives go beyond merely providing healthcare services; they reflect the company’s commitment to extending the benefits of development to the most marginalized sections of society and building strong bonds of trust and partnership with local communities.
