Chasing a victory target of 210 runs yesterday, Punjab Kings achieved the target of 210 runs for the loss of five wickets in 18.4 overs. It was CSK’s sixth consecutive defeat at home, and they have now lost their first two games of the season. Conversely, the Punjab Kings have started the 2026 season with two victories.
For the Punjab Kings, skipper Shreyas Iyer, with 50, was the top scorer. Priyansh Arya, who scored 39 runs, was declared Player of the Match. Batting first, Chennai Super Kings made 209 for the loss of five wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Ayush Mhatre, with 73, was the top scorer. Having arrived home on the back of a morale-sapping defeat in Guwahati, Chennai Super Kings turned up a lot better with the bat. Yet, they left a few runs out in the middle and a score of 209 did not prove enough with Punjab Kings blowing their bowlers away to record a fourth consecutive win at Chepauk to surge to the top of the table.
