Indian Coast Guard Inducts Fourth Fast Patrol Vessel ‘Achal’ under the 08 FPV Project

New Delhi, Mar 31: In a decisive stride toward maritime strength and self-reliance,Bharatiya Tatrakshak inducted its fourth Fast Patrol Vessel(FPV),Yard 1274 ‘Achal’,on 31 March 2026 at Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL). Entirely designed and built in India, the vessel will be forwarddeployed at Vadinar, Gujarat reinforcing the nation’s vigilant maritime grid.

Graceful in form yet formidable in capability, ‘Achal’ is armed with a 30mm CRN-91 gun and twin 12.7mm stabilised remote-controlled guns, seamlessly integrated with advanced fire control systems. Its cutting-edge suite, comprising an Integrated Bridge System, Integrated Platform and Power Management Systems, and a high-capacity fire-fighting system, renders it a deft and resilient force at sea.

Marking a notable technological advance, ‘Achal’ features Controllable Pitch Propellers and indigenous gearboxes, delivering superior maneuverability and operational finesse. With over 60% Indigenous Content, the vessel stands as a proud testament to the spirit of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ and ‘Make in India’.

Built for speed, precision, and endurance, ‘Achal’ will sharpen coastal surveillance and execute a wide spectrum of offshore missions. Fast Patrol Vessels remain the cutting edge of the Coast Guard’s mandate, upholding maritime law, spearheading search and rescue, and safeguarding Bharat’s Exclusive Economic Zone.

The enduring synergy between Bharatiya Tatrakshakand M/s Goa Shipyard Ltd continues to chart new horizons. Since 1988, GSL has delivered 38 vessels, including 14 FPVs – an enduring legacy of trust, craftsmanship, and strategic foresight.
