IMD Issues Yellow Alert For Six Districts As Heavy Rain Continues In Keralam

In Keralam, rain is likely to intensify across northern districts, with the weather department issuing a yellow alert for six districts. A yellow alert indicating isolated heavy rainfall is in effect for Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur, and Kasaragod districts. Wayanad and Kottayam districts, which were under Yellow Alert last night, are not under rain warning today. According to the India Meteorological Department, isolated heavy rain will continue over northern parts of the state until Friday. Yellow Alert has been issued for six districts for tomorrow also.

IMD Forecasts Very Heavy Rainfall Across Several States Today

India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast very heavy rainfall today over parts of Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Maharashtra, Punjab, South Interior Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Coastal Karnataka. Parts of north-east India, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, East Rajasthan, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Kerala, Mahe, Konkan and Goa, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal and Sikkim are also likely to receive moderate to heavy rainfall during the day.

The Met Department also predicted thunderstorms and lightning over Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal, Karnataka, Kerala, Mahe and Odisha today. Similar weather conditions are also expected in parts of East Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Muzaffarabad, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Telangana. Meanwhile, hot and humid weather conditions are likely to persist during the day over parts of Coastal Andhra Pradesh.
