IMD Issues Red Alert For Heavy To Extremely Heavy Rainfall In Western And Central India

The Southwest Monsoon has further advanced into some more parts of Gujarat, Rajasthan and Haryana and remaining parts of Madhya Pradesh today. The India Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall with isolated extremely heavy rainfall over Gujarat Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Odisha and West Madhya Pradesh for tomorrow.

The weather agency has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall over East Rajasthan, East Madhya Pradesh, Coastal Karnataka, Telangana and Vidarbha for next two days. The Met department has also forecast heavy rainfall over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Gangetic West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Marathwada, West Rajasthan and southern parts of the country tomorrow.

According to IMD, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Punjab, Chandigarh, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, West Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Bihar and Sikkim will experience thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and gusty winds during the next two to three days.

Meanwhile, in Delhi the sky is likely to remain cloudy with a possibility of light rain over the next 24 hours. The department has forecast that tomorrow’s maximum temperature will hover around 34 to 36 degrees Celsius and minimum temperature will be around 26 to 28 degrees.
