IMD Forecasts Heavy Rainfall Over Southern States And Lakshadweep; Yellow Alert in Kerala

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall over Interior Karnataka, Kerala, Mahe, Lakshadweep, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal today. IMD said that Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Odisha, Rajasthan and West Madhya Pradesh can experience thundersquall with wind speed reaching 50 to 60 kmph.

The Met Department predicted thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds over Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttarakhand, West Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim for today. Similar conditions are likely to prevail over Konkan and Goa, Lakshadweep, Maharashtra, Rayalaseema, Saurashtra and Kutch, Telangana and Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Himachal Pradesh.

The IMD has also predicted hot and humid weather conditions over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Odisha and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim till tomorrow.

Yellow Alert Issued In 10 Districts Of Kerala For Isolated Heavy Rainfall

Yellow alert indicating isolated heavy rainfall has been issued in ten districts of Keralam today. Rainfall is likely to intensify over the next three days. Most observatories in Kerala have recorded around 5 mm of rainfall since 4 a.m. today. In Lakshadweep, 15 mm of rainfall has been reported from Kavaratti, Agatti, and Amini today.
