Hyderabad: GITAM Receives Van Mahotsav Award 2026

GITAM Deemed to be University, Hyderabad, has been honoured with the Van Mahotsav Award – 2026 in recognition of its sustained commitment to environmental sustainability and green initiatives undertaken during the year 2025.

The award was presented during the Annual Meeting 2025–26 of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Telangana State Council held in Hyderabad. DVVSR Varma, Resident Director, GITAM Hyderabad, received the award from G. VivekVenkataSwamy, Minister for Labour, Employment, Training and Factories, Mines and Geology, Government of Telangana.

The Van Mahotsav Award is presented to institutions that demonstrate exemplary efforts in promoting environmental protection through initiatives such as large-scale tree plantation drives, campus greening programmes, and environmental awareness campaigns.

GITAM Hyderabad has consistently undertaken a wide range of eco-friendly activities, including sapling plantation programmes, environmental awareness drives, and community outreach initiatives. These efforts encourage students to actively participate in environmental conservation and promote a culture of sustainability on campus.

Prof. D. S. Rao, Pro Vice-Chancellor, GITAM Hyderabad, along with the Heads of Institutions (HoIs) and Heads of Departments (HoDs), expressed happiness and pride over receiving the prestigious Van Mahotsav Award, acknowledging it as a recognition of the university’s continuous commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainable development.
