GITAM to Host Workshop on ‘Communication and Influence’ for Academic Leaders

The Centre for Academic Innovation and Advancement (CAIA) at GITAM Deemed to be University will organise a one-day self-skill enhancement workshop on ‘Communication and Influence’ on April 21, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

According to Moses Kotikela of CAIA, the programme is designed to strengthen a critical leadership competency in academic environments—effective communication combined with the ability to influence. These skills enable university leaders to align diverse stakeholders, build trust, and translate institutional vision into coordinated action. They are also essential for driving change, resolving conflicts, fostering collaboration, and inspiring individuals within complex academic ecosystems.

Recognising that leaders serve as brand ambassadors of the university’s intellectual identity, the workshop will focus on enhancing how faculty and academic leaders represent the institution across classrooms, conferences, collaborations, and student engagements.

The workshop will feature a Masterclass in Storytelling for Academic Impact, aimed at making lectures, presentations, and academic discussions more engaging and impactful. Participants will also learn to articulate and showcase institutional strengths effectively in national and international academic forums.

In addition, the programme will introduce practical strategies to enhance classroom engagement and enrich learning experiences beyond subject expertise. A key component of the workshop will be the application of the Cohen–Bradford Influence Model, helping participants understand empathy maps and influence “currencies” to build alignment and credibility in academic initiatives.

The session will be highly interactive, incorporating discussions, real-life scenarios, and reflective exercises tailored to institutional contexts.

The workshop will be facilitated by Joozar Shukla Hastak, a Leadership and Behavioral Consultant with over 26 years of experience across sectors including IT, manufacturing, BFSI, pharmaceuticals, GCCs, and education. She brings a unique blend of practical insights and reflective learning approaches, with a strong focus on enabling individuals and organisations to realise their highest potential.
