GITAM Deemed to be University, Hyderabad, through its Directorate of Student Life (DoSL), organized a plantation drive as part of the nationwide “EkPedMaaKeNaam” initiative. The campaign, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, encourages citizens to plant a tree in honor of their mothers while promoting environmental sustainability and ecological consciousness.
The drive witnessed enthusiastic participation from university leadership, Heads of Institutions, Heads of Departments, faculty members, staff, and students, who came together to plant saplings across the campus. The initiative reinforced GITAM’s commitment to environmental stewardship and the creation of a greener and healthier future.
Participants highlighted the significance of tree plantation in addressing climate change, enhancing biodiversity, and fostering sustainable living. The event also served as a symbolic tribute to mothers, reflecting values of care, nurturing, and responsibility toward nature.
