GITAM Invites Applications for DST-Funded JRF Position Under India–Italy Collaborative Research Project on Quantum Technologies

GITAM Deemed to be University, Hyderabad, has invited applications for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) under a prestigious international research project funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India.

The project, titled “Deterministic Creation and Characterization of Negatively Charged Single Boron Vacancies in Hexagonal Boron Nitride for Quantum Technologies,” focuses on developing advanced methods to create and study quantum defects in hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) using state-of-the-art nanofabrication techniques.

The research aims to explore quantum emission properties through extensive spectroscopic and microscopic characterization, contributing to the rapidly emerging field of quantum technologies.

The project will be carried out at GITAM, Hyderabad, in collaboration with IIT Bombay and Sapienza University of Rome, Italy. The selected candidate will have an opportunity to work with an international research team comprising faculty members, postdoctoral researchers, and doctoral scholars.

Candidates with B.Tech. or M.Tech. qualifications in Electronics and Communication Engineering and a strong foundation in Semiconductor Devices and Electronic Materials are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to candidates with GATE qualification, prior experimental research experience, and familiarity with advanced characterization techniques such as XRD, SEM, AFM, PL, and Raman spectroscopy.

The position is for a duration of three years. The fellowship will be provided as per DST norms, with ₹37,000 per month plus applicable HRA for the first two years as JRF and ₹42,000 per month plus applicable HRA in the third year as SRF, subject to eligibility.
