GITAM Hyderabad Celebrates 17th Graduation Ceremony; 1,990 Students Conferred Degrees

GITAM Deemed to be University, Hyderabad, celebrated its 17th Graduation Ceremony with great pride and grandeur, awarding degrees to 1,990 graduates, including 1,532 undergraduate, 372 postgraduate, and 86 Ph.D. scholars, across diverse academic disciplines.

Globally acclaimed filmmaker S. S. Rajamouli graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The ceremony was presided over by M. Sribharat, President of GITAM and Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), Visakhapatnam, in the presence of Errol D’Souza, Vice-Chancellor. The dignitaries paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and GITAM Founder M. V. V. S. Murthi before the commencement of the ceremony.

The University conferred the Honorary Doctor of Letters (D.Litt.) upon GajamGovardhana in recognition of his outstanding contribution to handloom weaving and the preservation of India’s rich textile heritage.

A total of 17 Gold Medals were awarded to meritorious students for academic excellence. Digudadi Pranav Rahul, from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, received the President’s Gold Medal for securing the highest overall rank among all B.Tech. graduates. The University also awarded doctoral degrees to 86 research scholars in recognition of their significant contributions to research and innovation.

The Best Researcher Awards were presented to Dr.Mohd. Arshad Ansari, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics, GITAM School of Humanities and Social Sciences, and Prof. M.S. SurendraBabu, Professor, Department of Chemistry, GITAM School of Science, for their exceptional research achievements.

In his keynote address, Shri S.S. Rajamouli inspired the graduates by recalling the philosophy of GITAM Founder Dr. M.V.V.S. Murthi, urging them to strive for excellence in their chosen fields through unwavering dedication, passion, and hard work. He encouraged the graduates to pursue every endeavour with commitment and purpose.

In his presidential address, Shri M. Sribharat congratulated the graduating students and echoed Rajamouli’s message by highlighting seven guiding principles for success: Dream big, believe in yourself, surround yourself with great people, be passionately committed to your goals, keep learning and growing, remain humble, and always keep your word.

Presenting the annual report, Prof. D.S. Rao, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Hyderabad, highlighted GITAM’s achievements and reaffirmed the University’s commitment to nurturing socially responsible leaders through excellence in education, research, and innovation. The graduates took the graduation pledge, reaffirming their commitment to ethical values, professional integrity, and nation-building. Dr. D. Gunasekaran, Registrar, proposed the vote of thanks.

The 17thGraduation Ceremony reaffirmed GITAM Hyderabad’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence, research, innovation, and holistic development, empowering graduates to become responsible professionals and future leaders who will make meaningful contributions to society.
