GITAM Hosts Hands-on Workshop on Machine Learning and Deep Learning Using MATLAB

GITAM Deemed to be University, Hyderabad, hosted a three-day hands-on workshop on “Machine Learning and Deep Learning Using MATLAB – From Data to Decisions: Innovate with MATLAB” from August 17 to 19, 2026. The workshop was organised by the Department of Electrical, Electronics and Communication Engineering (EECE), GITAM School of Core Engineering (GSCE), in collaboration with ARKANCE IN Private Limited and MathWorks.

The workshop was designed to provide faculty members with practical exposure to machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) using MATLAB, with a focus on translating computational concepts into solutions for contemporary engineering and research problems. The programme combined fundamental concepts with hands-on implementation, enabling participants to explore how data-driven methods can be applied across diverse technical domains.

Dr.Shubhobrata Bhattacharya, Senior Training Engineer, MathWorks, served as the resource person. Through specialised technical sessions and interactive demonstrations, he introduced participants to key ML and DL concepts and their implementation using MATLAB tools and frameworks. The sessions offered valuable insights into contemporary computational approaches and their applications in engineering, research, and problem-solving.

Faculty members from various engineering disciplines actively participated in the workshop and gained practical experience in developing and implementing ML and DL models using MATLAB. The hands-on sessions helped participants strengthen their understanding of both the underlying concepts and their practical applications. The interactive nature of the programme also provided an opportunity to explore industry-relevant tools and workflows, enhancing the participants’ confidence in applying these technologies to teaching, research, and engineering applications.

The workshop was conducted under the guidance of Prof. Ramesh Vaddi, Director, GSCE, Prof.PrasanthaMudimela, Head, Department of EECE. Dr.MadhaviTatineni and Dr. M. Mariyadasu coordinated the programme and contributed to its smooth and successful execution.
