GITAM Continues Tradition of Supporting Government School Students with Educational Kits

Reinforcing its commitment to community service and sustainable development, GITAM Deemed to be University, Hyderabad, distributed Classmate notebooks, crayons, pens, pencils, stationery kits and meals plates to students of RudraramZillaParishad High School and Government Primary School on Saturday.

The initiative is part of GITAM’s long-standing outreach programme, which has been carried out consistently for the past 12 years to support the educational needs of children from government schools in the surrounding villages.

The distribution programme is closely linked to GITAM’s sustainability efforts under the theme “Wealthout ofWaste (WoW).” Through this initiative, GITAM students collect used newspapers, old records, books, and other recyclable paper materials from the campus, with the help of Hospitality Department. These materials are handed over to ITC Paperboards and Specialty Papers Division for recycling. In return, ITC provides Classmate educational products, which are distributed to underprivileged students, thereby promoting both environmental conservation and social responsibility.

The educational kits were distributed by D.V.V.S.R. Varma, Resident Director, GITAM Hyderabad; Dr.P.V.Nagendra Kumar, NSS Coordinator. GITAM alumnus AnujSuRao, MadhavBhaskar, President of the E-Club, and members of the E-Club, also actively participated in organizing and conducting the programme.

The students received the notebooks and stationery kits with great enthusiasm and expressed their happiness through cheerful smiles and heartfelt gratitude. The Headmasters and teachers of the respective schools extended their sincere appreciation to GITAM and ITC for their continued support and cooperation to their students.

Speaking on the occasion, the university representatives reiterated GITAM’s commitment to fostering quality education, environmental sustainability, and meaningful community engagement through initiatives that create a lasting positive impact on society.
