Forest College and Research Institute (FCRI) celebrated World Environment Day-2026

Various events were organized at the Mulugu Forest College and Research Institute (FCRI) to mark World Environment Day. Vinay Kumar, Head of the Forest Force, participated as the chief guest in these programs, which were conducted as part of the Telangana government’s “Praja Palana – Pragathi Pranalika” (People’s Governance – Development Plan) initiative.

Held under the theme “Inspired by Nature – For Climate – For Our Future,” the week-long celebrations included essay writing and quiz competitions, environmental awareness drives, cleanliness campaigns, plastic-free initiatives, and tree-planting programs.

Speaking on the occasion, Vinay Kumar emphasized the critical need to conserve forests, wildlife, and natural resources amidst rising environmental challenges. He urged the youth to play a pivotal role in building a ‘Green Telangana.’ Dr. Priyanka Varghese, Director of the Telangana State Forest Academy, stated that sustainable development is achievable only through environmental education, public participation, and capacity building.

Renowned poet, writer, and environmentalist Jayaraju highlighted the bond between humans and nature, calling upon everyone to adopt environmental conservation as a way of life. Professor Dr. S. Umesh Kannan from Tamil Nadu Agricultural University and TSFDC Research Consultant Dr. K. Srinivas and Dr. Kulkarni Shashikant, a professor at the Osmania University College of Engineering, delivered speeches on topics such as environmental conservation, climate change, and natural resource management.

Students and staff, in collaboration with the Telangana Forest Development Corporation, planted approximately 100 saplings in Majidpur village near Shameerpet. FCRI Dean Praveena, along with other staff, students, faculty members, Forest Department officials, and environmental experts, participated in the event.
