Delhi Liquor Case: CBI Moves Delhi HC Challenging Acquittal Of AAP National Convener Arvind Kejriwal In Liquor Case

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has moved the Delhi High Court challenging the acquittal of Aam Aadmi Party national convener Arvind Kejriwal, party leader Manish Sisodia and others in the corruption case related to the Delhi liquor policy case. The move comes hours after the trial court passed the order.

The trial court acquitted all 23 accused persons in the case, including Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia and K Kavitha. The CBI has said that the trial court’s order has ignored several important aspects of the investigation and that the material has not been adequately considered.

The excise policy was framed by the Delhi Government in 2021, which was later withdrawn after allegations of irregularities in implementation. Lieutenant-Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena had ordered a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation into the policy.

BJP Accuses Aam Aadmi Party Of Attempting To Destroy Evidence

BJP today accused the Aam Aadmi Party of attempting to destroy evidence in the Delhi Excise Policy Case, claiming the scrapping of the policy raised serious questions. Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, BJP MP Manoj Tiwari alleged that investigators had evidence that multiple mobile phones were destroyed in connection with the alleged liquor scam.

He expressed confidence that the matter would proceed to higher courts after the decision of the Rouse Avenue court. He further claimed that former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will be held accountable, asserting that truth would prevail and those responsible for corruption will face punishment.
