CWG 2026: Jaismine Lamboria Wins, Secures Medal For India In Women’s 57kg

India’s Jaismine Lamboria assured the country of another boxing medal at the 2026 Commonwealth Games after defeating England’s Elise Glynn by a 4-1 split decision in the women’s 57kg quarterfinals on Wednesday, extending India’s unbeaten run in the day’s quarterfinal bouts.

The 24-year-old from Bhiwani, Haryana, prevailed on the scorecards of four of the five judges. Competing from the blue corner, Jaismine received scores of 29-28, 29-28, 30-27 and 30-27, while one judge favoured Glynn 29-28.

A bronze medallist in the lightweight category at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, Jaismine has enjoyed an impressive run in recent years, winning gold at the 2025 World Championships in Liverpool, two World Boxing Cup featherweight titles in Astana and New Delhi in 2025, and a bronze medal at the 2021 Asian Championships in Dubai.

Her victory completed a clean sweep for India in Wednesday’s quarterfinals, with all six Indian boxers in action advancing to the semifinals. Combined with the three semifinal berths secured on Tuesday, India now has nine boxers assured of medals. Under the Commonwealth Games boxing format, both losing semifinalists receive bronze medals.

Narender booked his semifinal berth after edging Samoa’s Michael Seko 3-2 by split decision in the men’s 90kg+ quarterfinal.

Ankush delivered a dominant performance to outclass Micock, earning a unanimous verdict with judges scoring the bout 30-26, 30-27, 30-27, 30-27 and 30-27 in his favour. His victory guaranteed him at least a bronze medal.

Earlier in the day, Sachin Siwach, Arundhati Chaudhary and Sakshi also advanced to the semifinals.

Sakshi secured a commanding 5-0 unanimous decision over Northern Ireland’s Caitlin Fryers in the women’s 51kg quarterfinal. She controlled the contest throughout, with four judges scoring it 29-27 and one awarding a 29-25 verdict. Fryers was also penalised with a point deduction.

Arundhati Chaudhary overcame New Zealand’s Morgan Henderson by a 3-1 split decision in the women’s 70kg quarterfinal. Three judges scored the contest 30-26 in her favour, one judge awarded it 29-27 to Henderson, while the fifth had it level at 28-28 before a one-point deduction against the New Zealander tipped the result in Arundhati’s favour.

Sachin Siwach registered a clinical 5-0 unanimous decision victory in the men’s 60kg quarterfinal to advance to the last four and assure India another medal.

India’s boxing campaign had already gathered momentum on Tuesday, with Mandengbam Jadumani Singh, Priya and Preeti securing semifinal berths.

Jadumani booked his place in the men’s 55kg semifinals with a unanimous 5-0 victory over Mwale Mwengo, guaranteeing at least a bronze medal.

Priya advanced to the women’s 60kg semifinals after defeating Scotland’s Niamh Mitchell 4-1 in the quarterfinals. After trailing following the opening round, she responded strongly with effective combinations and ring control to win the contest.

Preeti also assured India of a medal by cruising into the women’s 54kg semifinals with a dominant 5-0 unanimous decision over Northern Ireland’s Nicole Clyde. The Indian boxer controlled the bout from start to finish, with judges scoring it 30-25, 30-25, 30-26, 30-26 and 30-27. Clyde was knocked down three times during the contest.
