Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge Expresses Confidence Of Congress Win In Assam Elections: BJP Criticises

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has expressed hope that Congress-led alliance will win 72 to 73 seats of 126 assembly constituencies in Assam assembly elections.

Addressing a press conference in Guwahati, Mr. Kharge came down heavily on the Chief Minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma, alleging that he is working only for his family’s development. He said, Centre must probe into allegations of Himanta’s wife possessing assets abroad and having passports of 3 countries. He also said Assam’s son Zubeen did not get justice.

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi today said that the party’s housing project for victims of the Mundakkai-Chooralmala landslides was delayed due to lack of clearances from the ruling Left government in Kerala. During a UDF corner meeting at Kalpetta in Keralam, she attacked Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, questioning why there were no cases against him, despite facing several corruption accusations.

BJP Criticises Mallikarjun Kharge Over Alleged Comments On Gujaratis

BJP has condemned the alleged remarks of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Gujaratis. Addressing a press conference at Party headquarter in New Delhi, senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad said,

Mr Kharge remarks that Gujaratis are uneducated is shameless and utterly despicable. He said, the elections come and go, but the president of the Congress has abandoned all decorum.

Mr Prasad said Gujarat’s literacy rate is 82 percent, and it has improved significantly under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He demanded that Mr Kharge must apologise to the people of Gujarat.
