AP: Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan initiatives free spectacles distributes for another 552 artisans
Health initiatives are continuing to bring light into the lives of handicraft artisans through the efforts of State Deputy Chief Minister Shri PawanKalyan
.
On Monday, free spectacles were provided to 552 crochet lace artisans identified with vision impairments during an eye medical camp held ten days ago at the Narsapur International Lace Centre.
During the eye medical camp conducted on the 9th of this month, computerized power tests, eye pressure checks, retina scanning, and slit lamp examinations were performed on 700 artisans to assess their eye health.
As it was determined in those tests that 552 individuals needed spectacles, the Deputy Chief Minister made arrangements to have frames prepared on-site and provided free of charge. The camp itself offered artisans the opportunity to select frames they liked.
Within ten days, free spectacles were distributed to every artisan in need. It is well known that when doctors recommended cataract surgeries for 45 individuals at the same camp, surgeries were completed the very next day for 12 of them at Kakinada’s Shri Kiran Eye Hospital.
Subsequently, full eye medical camps are being organized in villages like Achanta, Attili, and others, with arrangements from the Deputy Chief Minister’s office to provide follow-up treatment to those affected.
