Andhra Pradesh: CM Naidu Calls Upon People To Actively Participate In Cleanliness Drive

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said the NDA government is focused on creating sustainable income-generating opportunities to improve the lives of the poor across the state. Addressing a public meeting during the Swachhandhra-Swarnandhra programme in Vinukonda, Mr. Naidu called upon people to actively participate in the cleanliness drive.

The Chief Minister said that Swachhandhra activities are being effectively implemented across the state. He stated that when he assumed office, nearly 108 lakh metric tonnes of waste had accumulated in Andhra Pradesh, causing groundwater contamination during the rainy season.

He said door-to-door waste collection is now being carried out in 97 per cent of municipalities and assured that 100 per cent coverage in all panchayats will be achieved by next month. Highlighting community participation, he said over 4.14 lakh families have adopted home composting, while more than 4.19 lakh terrace gardens have been developed.
